Tick Tock: Which Auction House Will Steal the Hearts of Domainers?
120 names are up for auction with a $1.00 reserve at Latona’s Daily Domain Auction. Among the list are worthy domains such as: CountryLakes.com, ePayments.com and Nebraska.net. Financing options are available from DigiPawn and DigiLoan. Future auctions will begin with an email via newsletter subscription in which bidders will have up to 24 hours to bid on a domain. More in the press release…
It is too early to tell how successful Latona’s will be over Bido who started a similar auction style a few years prior founded by Sahar Sarid and Jeff Bhavnanie. My guess is they will find a way to work with one another but if not, each company has their own domain stock and niche. Latona’s has a financing option, however, Bido has more user committing rewards such as the “Vote for Profits” and affiliate program.
Rick Schwartz handed the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. torch to Latona last year enabling the perfect stage to promote Latona’s auctions and then some.
However, the true value lies not in domainer flavored perks and rewards but which auction house can figure out how to bring more end users to our doorsteps.

Latona has great inventory day in and day out, so bringing that inventory to an auction format is brilliant (especially since so many have copied his newsletter). He’s going to crush Bido who is in the habit of auction crap.
Agree with Michael… Bido has been pushing so much junk that I almost never bother visiting there any longer. It’s too bad because I really wanted them to succeed.
I think Bido has a solid platform that is technologically ahead of its time. The issue is inventory, not the platform itself. Latonas.com will be attracting some big names and domains, given the advantage of the mailing list’s reach and also the utilization of TRAFFIC as the canvas. There is room for both auction platforms but Latona’s clearly is in the lead here. This is good; it will most likely lead to improved inventory at Bido and some needed simplifications in the auction process.
Keep posting stuff like this i really like it
“Technologically ahead of its time”??? Bido still doesn’t even have a Watch List feature or a centralized way to view bids you’ve already placed! I’ve found some inventory on Bido I’ve been pleased with; it’s the platform that I don’t care much for. Will start following Latona’s auctions more now to see how it goes.
